Of Genes, Hormones and Binomial Nomenclature

It is difficult to put in words what your head has already given a non-verbal definition to. I may not end up doing justice; I will still try. I don’t know whether you can make sense of what I’m talking about. If you think you do, read on.

I said you’ll have those hormones racing through you because I have them racing through me - because nothing else can possibly explain this turmoil in my body and mind. Body: because I feel funny in my gut. Mind: because I can’t seem to think straight. I have been through this before. And it still gets me. Like it will get you. Every single time. Unless of course you learn how to take control.

Maybe these essential but little known facts will help:

Men are born sadists. They realise it or not, they admit it or not. When they see you in pain, and you want them to come up and help you out of it, they will sit back and relax in an imaginary jumbo-sized recliner and get ready for the show to begin. Maybe even get a bowl of popcorns.

Now men, like they say, are from Mars, and for all good reasons, should have stayed there. And we make the classic mistake of assuming them to be one of us and expecting them to be capable of relating to us. I wonder why they call both men and women by the same generic and specific name?! If women are Homo sapiens sapiens, men should be Homo sapiens jackassiens.

I will make it simpler, girl. Its always the best to hold on to your own. In the words of the great Janis Joplin, who by the way was murdered by Men (they may tell you it was Heroin, believe it wasn‘t),

“I won't quit to become someone's old lady.”

And a word of advice for you too:

“Don't compromise yourself. You are all you've got.”
- Janis Joplin
